Psychoanalytic Training

The Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis - Los Angeles (ICPLA), with the strong support of the Northwest Center for Psychoanalysis -Portland (NCP-P), is about to launch a new Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training (PPT) Program in Portland. The program's case-centered format takes a unique approach to analytic theory and practice using faculty case presentations and discussion to illustrate and deepen theoretical understanding and application of theory in clinic practice.

Los Angeles and Portland analysts will present approximately 15 clinical cases, each with a theoretical and treatment strategy. Responses to the case will be presented with an alternate clinical approach and theoretical ideas. Students will explore and engage in the clinical possibilities of each case. Clinical cases are derived from major contemporary theoretical perspectives, such as intersubjectivity, relational, complexity, object relations, attachment and dynamic systems theory. There will be weekly small group supervision.

The PPT Program will run from January through December 2010. It will include 30, 2-hour classes (60 Continuing Education credits) in three, 10-week trimesters (no summer classes).
